    I think this upset people and hit them because they suddenly realised they knew people just like him, or used to and already missed out on the moments to make something positive and meaningful for that person.

    As a straight man, the end of this episode genuinely makes me tear up. Yes, Frank is far from what anyone would consider an Ally, but to see him genuinely -TRY- to understand Mac, -TRY- to help him, then in the end after Mac was able to express himself for him to finally get it when Mac's own father seems to refuse to understand, that shit gets me. All anyone wants to be understood and feel comfortable with who they are, and being the social animals that we are, we tend to get that feeling from others. It blows my mind that a show about terrible people doing terrible things can also have one of the most beautiful, touching scenes in television history.

    I think what alot of doctors react to house miss is that, if it makes sense or not...houses entire unit and team are supposed to "solve the cases that ER can't figure out" They jump to rare things BECAUSE theres an assumption that the basic tests and common causes were already addressed and checked

    I always took the jokes about people getting things stuck up the bum, as being more around frustration that we have also this info and people *still* aren't doing it safely, plus lying to the doctors and unsafe kinks. Like we don't need to have more people blocking up the hospitals because they have a problem that is well known and entirely avoidable. We don't talk about things up the vag often like that because they generally don't need an ambulance ride or hospital visit at all because it's a dead end - there's generally less danger. But there are similar jokes involving women still 🤷 You're probably more sensitive to homophobia than me, and some of the jokes are no doubt homophobic, but I've never heard those ones from medical professionals.

    The line from Herb, "oh no Bojack, there's no other side, this is" triggers me so much. It's so fear and panic inducing. It's the nothingness, the absolute oblivion, empty void waiting for you that gets me. Not death itself but the complete void that awaits your own conscience. No more thoughs, feelings or memories. No more nothing. I can't stomach the thought.

      It's not in any way a derogatory phrase. It's been around for over 300 years and refers to the drinking of a type of gin by Dutch troops, who fought alongside the English during the Thirty Years’ War. As in "We're about to go into battle, hand me some of that liquid courage", which morphed into Dutch courage when referring to the gin supplied by the army. You don't need to be so professionally offended by a saying that was originally a meme (a unit of cultural information spread by imitation) which became an historical reference.

    • @NobodyC13
      @NobodyC13 День назад

      I don't know, it seems like a pretty apt thematic conclusion. Homer may be a foolish oaf, but he's sociable enough that anyone from drunks, celebrities, and even politicians can approach and befriend him and open him to new opportunities in life. Frank Grimes, meanwhile, may have been dealt a bad hand in life, but his obsession with being a "responsible hard worker" combined with his envy of other people's lifestyles, has either led him to forgo relationships or people are just put off by his judgemental attitude of whether they deserve or not deserve any of their successes. Homer TRIED to be nice and friendly to Grimes and take the latter's criticisms to heart, but Grimes let his envy get the best of him and became obsessed with humiliating Homer just to prove his worldview is right. The episode ends with no one one mourning for Frank Grimes, but everyone is laughing with Homer.
